Scanning

An SG-8060P high-end digital color drum scanner from Dainippon Screen, with a resolution upto 12,000 dpi, and a magnification range of 10--3000 percent is used to scan all the transparencies and reflective originals. The SG-8060P scanner can scan originals upto 23.6" x 21.2", and has 14 digital signal processors built into it, to process the captured color data at high speeds, maintaining high quality and excellent unsharp masking. The SG-8060P scanner is controlled by Screen's Artificial Intelligent Scanning software.

Another high-quality flatbed scanner from Screen - Cezanne Elite with ColorGenius EX image processing software - is also used to scan reflections and transparencies and 3-dimensional objects upto 1" thickness.

An FTS-300 13" x 20" flat bed scanner is used for high quality line-work scanning for converting line work into vectors using ArtPro and Dalim.

Layout and page assembly

A host of the latest Apple G4 PowerMacs and Intel Pentium 4 systems are used for all the layout, assembly work, and for image manipulation. Most of the popular Desktop Prepress Applications such as Adobe PageMaker 6.5, Adobe InDesign 2.0, QuarkXpress 4.1, Adobe llustrator 9, Adobe Photoshop 6, Macromedia FreeHand 10, and CorelDraw 10 are used to process customer-supplied files.

Apart from the above, high-end softwares such as ArtPro, Dalim Litho, and Oris Page are also used for specialized processing requirements of a job. OneVision's Solvero is used to fix the problems of customer-supplied PostScript files and Enfocus PitStop is used to check and edit print-ready PDF files. MarkzWare's FlightCheck is also used to preflight all the jobs and report to the customer about possible problems in the supplied digital data.

All the processed jobs are proofed on color-calibrated inkjet printers - Epson 9000, Epson 7500 running Oris ColorTuner RIP software, and Agfa Sherpa 43i for layout and content approval. Alternatively, Acrobat PDF files are sent to the client by e-mail to speed up approval process.

Industry's most powerful workflow solutions

Brisque Impose workflow from Creo

Creo's Brisque workflow based on Adobe Extreme technology, automates the tools, operation and processes in the prepress workflow, while leaving control in the hands of the user. The unique capabilities provided by Brisque allow all participants in the process - from the originator through the prepress professional to the commercial printer - to view and edit the same data files before and after RIPing. Brisque RIP Once workflow assures very high file integrity, since the same RIPed data are used for all output devices - contract and imposition proofers, imagesetter or platesetter.

Running on a powerful IBM pSeries 620-6F1 Server, Brisque efficiently meets heavy peaks in the workload, using Symmetric Multiple Processing, taking care of RIPing, page-independent imposition, Trapping, Impose Proofs, CIP3 data generation and output to Platesetter or Imagesetter. It's Job Ticket based workflow allows the operator to select all the operations to be done on a single job, so that operator involvement can be minimized at each stage of operation. Brisque can also export data to high-res PDF, PostScript, TIFF/IT-P1 and fully imposed flat as low-res PDF for remote approvals. Creo's Brisque offers a wide range of high-quality screens, including the high-definition Staccato screening.

TaigaSpace workflow from Screen

Screen's TaigaSpace, the only installation in India, running on powerful Sun Hardware with Solaris Operating System offers late-binding facilities, and can not be compared with any other workflow solution.

It's fully integrated approach - Postscript interpretation, Imposition, Trapping, OPI, Ripping and Screening - offers reliable output to imagesetters, and Computer-to-Plate devices. The flexibility offered by TaigaSpace is unmatched - be it last-minute changes or using a combination of screens, i.e., Stochastic/FM, Conventional and Spekta in a single page. TaigaSpace also ouputs fully imposed ROOM (Rip Once and Output Many) proof on HP2500 inkjet printers and generates CIP3-compliant ink-key data for various presses.

Screen's new moiré-free screening technology - SPEKTA - demonstrates its superiority in reproducing fine details such as those required in maps. It improves rendition of lines that are created with half-tones, and details such as fine hair and delicate lace without jagged edges.

Two stations of TaigaSpace drive all output as fully imposed flats on Screen PlateRite-8000 CTP recorder and DT-R5120 imagesetter.

Computer-to-Plate devices and Imagesetters

In March 2002, for the first time in India, two high-end commercial CTP systems - a Creo Trendsetter and a Screen PTR-8000 were installed in DATAGRAPH.

Creo's Trendsetter Quantum F 3244 is one of the most popular and highly reliable CTP machines in the market, supporting plate sizes from 15.5" x 13" to 33" x 44", with an imaging speed of 3.0 minutes per plate at 2400 dpi. The Trendsetter uses external drum technology to image plates, and uses SQUAREspot thermal imaging technology, which images with precision and predictability. The temperature compensation system within Trendsetter adjusts variations in environmental temperature and plate expansion and contraction during imaging. Also, the accuracy of SQUAREspot thermal imaging technology offers great repeatability from plate to plate.

Our Promise

Screen PlateRite 8000 an 8-up Thermal Plate Recorder, this can handle plate sizes from 21.7" x 25.6" all the way up to 37" x 45.6". The PlateRite 8000 has an automatic built-in internal punch system and Auto-balance feature to fit different plate sizes with no manual adjustment. PlateRite 8000, driven by TaigaSpace workflow, offers superior productivity, versatility and ease of use supporting resolutions from 1200 to 4000 dpi with an output capacity of 13 plates per hour.

Screen Tanto 120 imagesetter is a high-end, external-drum, 8-up imagesetter, offering excellent quality with high productivity. It can handle media sizes up to 838 x 1,145 mm (33" x 45") and has six resolution settings between 1,200 and 4,000 dpi. It has a built-in Bacher Punch System and an online-processor, and is driven by TaigaSpace and HQ-510 PC Harlequin Level 3 RIP for all film output.

Proofers

An Epson 9000, Epson 7500 driven by ORIS Color Tuner RIP software and an Agfa Sherpa 43i are used for all layout proofs. Creo's IrisWide 43 is used for double-sided imposition proofing from Brisque and HP 2500 is used for imposition from Taiga.

Color Management System

Gretag's Spectrolino and SpectroScan are used along with ProfileMaker and Creo's Profile Wizard color management softwares to calibrate the display devices (computer monitors), proofing devices and for generating Press profiles.

Archiving system

A StorageTek's 9730 DLT 7000 Robotic Tape Library with a capacity of 1.2 Tera Byte is used to archive all the prepress data. The ASM software from StorageTek offers transparent access of all archived data across the network from any PC or Mac.

An IBM Ultrium LTO Auto Loader with 1.4 Tera Byte capacity is used as a secondary backup to the StorageTek's Library. IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager software is used as a network back-up software, which allows to take backup from different clients (Mac, PC, Sun and AIX clients).

Sending Digital Data

Customers can send their digital data in the form of Applications files - i.e., PageMaker, QuarkXpress, files, EPS, PDF and PostScript files from Mac/PC platforms. Files can be sent over Internet using FTP or through CD, Iomega ZIP 100/250 MB), 3.5" 650 MB MODs and 5.25" 2.6 GB MODs. A dedicated 512 kbps internet bandwidth is available to receive customer data and also to upload data back to clients, if necessary.

Online services

Print jobs can be converted to HTML and PDF files, so that clients can use the data to port it on to the web without totally recreating the web-content.
